Support Chicago students and vote

I try to spread out my asking the People of the Internet for favors and money for causes, but it is time to ask for a favor again (no money involved).

A friend of mine, Katie Bordner, teaches high school on the westside of Chicago. She helped make this film about the Ambassadors for a United Lawndale, a youth organization working to create conversation and unity across racial divides. She’s entered the film into an online film contest that could win the group $20,000.

Please take five minutes (or less, depending on where your internet connection is – this would take longer in Togo) and vote for the film. Here’s a message from Katie:

This season brings an abundance of optimism with it, and I wanted to piggy back off that energy and share, what I hope you will find to be, an exciting and inspiring story.

Some of my students and co-workers are working very hard to bring positive change to inner-city Chicago. I recently made a 5 minute movie about their program and entered it into an online film contest. Part of the process to pick winners is based on views and votes. I’m asking you to take a few minutes out of your day and support Ambassadors for a United Lawndale and their efforts to seek racial reconciliation in Chicago.

Please watch the movie here. Please vote for it (or give it stars). To vote, you must join the linkTV community. (Create a username/password etc). Please leave comments, and please share this with others. You have until Friday, April 30th to vote and comment.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring. All of which have the potential to turn a life around,” Leo Buscaglia

Thank you for your time!
Katie
